The shaft is as it was found and will need to be reconditioned in the manner you think best

This is the Capstan solenoid from a Tascam TSR 8 they are very powerful and used to engage the pinch wheel

to remove it so easy enough

These are rare now probably could be made by 3d printing but not sure as take a bit of weight
