Description

The walls were built by French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic wars

as the foliage appears both lush and rugged

This work encourages viewers to find a quiet moment

yet it unravels into a serene depiction of a woodland river

the local market throughout the seasons always has bounteous offerings

Bristol steps at Templemeads Landscapes The walls were built byThis mixed media work is from a sketch I made whilst in Bristol Templemeads. The steps, the sculpture and architecture intrigued me. I shall be using these drawings and mixed media to make large paintings of the city using bold colours and generous shapes one against another. The arrangement of colours and forms reflects the artists understanding of spatial relationships, offering a play of light and shadow without relying on literal interpretations.
